3-18-21   THOUGHTS

Below is one of the great PROPHETIC psalms. Large chunks of it are used in Hebrews 10 and those parts used are most important.  But it is an awesome psalm without its being prophecy.
My life should be summed up in verse 3.  MY LIFE SHOULD BE A NEW SONG... THE SONG OF JESUS!  

Ps 40:1-10    I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2  He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. 3  He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD. 4  How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. 5  Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count.  6  Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have opened; Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. 7  Then I said, "Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. [See Heb 10 for some rich application]  8  I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart." 9  I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; Behold, I will not restrain my lips, O LORD, You know. 10  I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.
Heb 10:8-10   After saying above, "SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS AND WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, NOR HAVE YOU TAKEN PLEASURE in them" (which are offered according to the Law),  9  then He said, "BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL." He takes away the first in order to establish the second. 10  By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
The TRUTH of a NEW COVENANT IN CHRIST JESUS is established in these verses!

Isa 12:2  "Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation."

My Prayer:
O God of heaven, put a new song in our mouths.  Thank you for Christ Jesus who provides the basis for that song.  We are blessed because we trust in you.  There is no one like you O God.  Help us to delight in doing your will.  May we see you clearly O Lord, that we may rejoice in your great provision for us. Give us strength and power to speak your great name and the name of Jesus.              We pray in his name       Amen
